EXAMPLE PROMPTAdventure

The unofficial guide

A cautious tour guide must lead a group off the map when the official route disappears under water. The only person who knows the way is a visitor they dismissed.

The Story Prompt Generator provides a fiction premise with a character, goal, obstacle and unresolved choice. Free seeds cover genres such as mystery, fantasy and romance. Optional AI customization uses your brief to shape a new text premise; it does not write a complete novel or chapter. Google sign-in is required for AI credits and account projects. Save a premise, lock important story facts and develop an outline that you can revise or export.

Story Prompts by Genre

A mystery premise needs a question someone has a reason to answer. A science fiction premise can test a technological change against an ordinary desire. A romance premise works when connection has a real cost. Start with the genre, then make the stakes personal.

Story Starters and Opening Lines

Start close to a change. “The ink smelled like our kitchen” can introduce a magical map through a familiar sensation. The first line does not need to explain the world; it needs to make the next line necessary.

Character, Plot and Setting Combinations

Ask three linked questions: who stands to lose something, why is this place making the problem harder, and what can they do today? A locked station matters when the character needs a train. A lighthouse matters when someone refuses to look out to sea.

Story Prompt Examples

How to Turn a Prompt Into a Story

Choose whose story it is. Give that person a goal you can show through an action. Decide what they risk by pursuing it, then build an obstacle that forces a choice rather than a convenient revelation.

Open a project to turn the premise into a short scene plan. For a longer work, use the plan as a starting arc rather than assuming a short outline can solve a whole novel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this write a finished story?

The free tool gives a writing seed. AI customization shapes that seed; a story project can develop it into a scene outline. This version does not generate complete chapters.

Can I use it for free without signing up?

Yes. Random prompts, the prompt library, copying and browser saves are free and need no account. Google sign-in gives each verified account 6 AI credits once. A custom prompt costs 1 credit, an outline 5 and a revision 3. Remaining credits are shown before generation; failed or safety-blocked requests return the reserved cost.

What gets saved when I develop an idea?

Browser-saved prompt cards stay in that browser. After Google sign-in, story projects, briefs, locked facts and outline versions are saved to your account. Sign in with the same Google account to return to them. Project reading, fact editing and text export do not use AI credits. Export work you want to keep independently.

Can I change the details of a prompt?

Yes. Treat a free seed as a starting point and edit it yourself, or add constraints in AI mode. A project lets you lock facts before asking for a revised outline.

What content can I request?

Non-explicit creative writing, including romance, suspense and atmospheric horror. AI requests and results are checked for explicit sexual content, sexual content involving minors, graphic gore, targeted abuse and instructions for serious real-world harm.
